Sakura-mochi
-----【Seasonal Item】Introducing "Sakuramochi," a Japanese sweet that evokes the feeling of spring's arrival.
The charm of Japanese cuisine isn't just about the taste. The true essence of Japanese cuisine lies in experiencing the changing seasons visually and through taste. The same is true in the world of desserts. For our special March menu, we've prepared "Sakuramochi," a taste of spring. What is Sakuramochi?
Sakuramochi is a type of Japanese confectionery that is especially popular around March, when cherry blossoms begin to bloom.
March is the month of "Hina Matsuri," a festival to pray for the healthy growth of girls. (we have a festival to pray for the healthy grouwth of boys in May). This is a traditional confection eaten alongside diamond-shaped rice cakes at this celebration.
Sakura mochi is a confection that wraps a gentle sweetness, typically red bean paste, in vibrant pink mochi. The entire treat is then enveloped in a salted cherry leaf.
When you put it in your mouth, the sweetness of the red bean paste and the subtle saltiness of the cherry leaf blend perfectly, letting you enjoy the sakura mochi's unique sweet-and-salty flavor. This balance of sweetness and saltiness, along with the indescribably elegant aroma of the cherry leaf, makes the mochi even more delicious and enjoyable. Enjoy it with matcha tea.
To complement our seasonal sakura mochi, we are offering authentic matcha tea at our shop.
"Matcha tea" is, of course, Matcha. That's right. We carefully prepare each cup of matcha tea individually after receiving your order.
Please try the harmonious blend of cherry blossom mochi, which evokes spring's arrival, and slightly bitter, fragrant matcha.
Please take your time and enjoy these special Japanese sweets, available only during this season.
